ASIA
We will be studying Asia until the end of March.  We study Asia in terms of regions.  Our first region is known as "Monsoon Asia."  This region includes lessons on Mt. Everest and a mapping challenge activity similar to the T.V. show "The Amazing Race!"

We will also be reading a novel together in class during this unit.  The novel is, "So Far from the Bamboo Grove."  The book provides students with a different world perspective on WWII.  The book takes place in "Monsoon Asia."  Many activities will take place while reading this book and it will conclude with a test.  Students will be provided with many handouts to help them prepare for the test including the following: "So Far from the Bamboo Grove" Packet, Vocabulary Packet, SFFBG Preview Guide, Chapters 1-3 Active Reading Guide, etc.  Students will be expected to stay after school to make up reading missed.  The novel will be read in class and the activities that go with the reading will primarily be done in class.

Homework will primarily be to review notes and vocabulary to prepare for the test.  Projected test date is mid-late March!
